AXIS Industrial were contracted to custom build a wooden crate to house a 1.6 tonne (1600kg) stainless steel submersible hose. We were also required to lift this hose from its current steel container into the new custom wooden crate and ensure it was safely secured for transport by land and sea.
The 1.6 tonne stainless steel hose risked springing open during transfer from its existing container into the new custom-built crate, creating serious safety hazards. Careful handling was essential throughout the entire operation.
The hose needed safe movement from its horizontal position in the steel container, through a vertical crane lift, and back to horizontal positioning within the new wooden crate, all while maintaining structural integrity and preventing dangerous spring-back forces.
AXIS custom-built a wooden crate with lid to exact hose specifications and coordinated a 20-tonne crane arrival with the hose delivery. Steel straps secured the hose to prevent spring-back during lifting and transit, ensuring crew safety throughout.
Careful crane manoeuvring successfully transferred the hose into the new crate. Dunnage blocked and braced the hose to restrict movement, the lid was sealed in place, and steel strapping fortified the entire structure. Long forklift extensions enabled full-width lifting for safe truck loading.
