VCI Masterbatch GVR-SP TDS

VCI Masterbatch GVR-SP TDS

The GreenVCI® GVR-SP is a low-density polyethylene (LDPE) based volatile corrosion inhibitor (VCI) additive masterbatch endorsed by leading German automobile manufacturers including Volkswagen, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz. This innovative solution is utilized in blown extrusion processes to fabricate VCI film.

Compliant with the stringent standards outlined by the US Department of Defense for VCI performance, GVR-SP delivers reliable temporary protection against corrosion for both ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Moreover, it seamlessly integrates with low-density polyethylene (LDPE), linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE), and medium-density polyethylene (MDPE) for the extrusion of VCI film tailored for industrial and commercial protective packaging needs.

For optimal efficacy, it’s crucial to thoroughly blend GVR-SP with LDPE masterbatch before extrusion. It’s imperative to maintain extrusion temperatures below 190°C to ensure stable VCI impregnation.

Recommended Mixing Ratios:

For standard TL 8135-0002 vapor inhibitor ability (VIA) results: Blend 3-4% GVR-SP with LDPE by weight for mono-layer extrusion at thicknesses ranging from 80 to 100 microns.

For Volkswagen (VW) 50164 requirements: Utilize a 5% GVR-SP to LDPE ratio by weight for mono-layer extrusion at a thickness of 75 microns.

Packaging and Storage

VCI masterbatch packaging options are available in two formats: 20kg PE-coated Kraft bags and 500kg corrugated boxes, ensuring suitability for various requirements. When delivered in sealed packaging and shielded from direct sunlight and moisture, the product boasts an estimated shelf life of two years. It’s important to store the VCI masterbatch properly at room temperature to uphold its efficacy over time.

To guarantee the efficacy of VCI masterbatch packaging, adherence to specific guidelines is paramount. Firstly, it’s advisable to store the packaged products away from direct sunlight, high temperatures, heat, and moisture. Additionally, the application of VCI liquid packaging should occur in environments with stable temperature conditions.

Controlling humidity levels is also crucial to safeguard the packaged products from corrosion. Before usage, conducting testing is recommended to confirm that the VCI liquid is suitable for your specific requirements and conditions. By diligently following these steps, you can optimize the protection provided by VCI liquid for your metal products.
